Košice Welcomed the Kick-off Event of the EIT Community Hub Slovakia
On 11 September 2025, the festive Kick-off Event of the EIT Community Hub Slovakia took place at the Kulturpark in Košice. National representations of the EIT Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KIC), public sector representatives, business leaders, startups and innovators came together to launch a new chapter of European innovation collaboration in Slovakia.
A New Innovation Platform for Slovakia
With the opening of the EIT Community Hub, Slovakia gains direct access to the largest European innovation network. The Hub will serve as a single contact point, enabling entrepreneurs, researchers, and students to access EIT opportunities more easily – from educational programmes and skills development to startup support and funding for innovative projects.
The new centre aims to connect people, companies, and institutions and create synergies between business, education, and research. This will provide Slovak companies with equal opportunities to participate in European projects, pilot programs, and funding schemes that help accelerate innovation and strengthen competitiveness.
Part of the Regional Innovation Programme
The EIT Community Hub Slovakia is part of the EIT Regional Innovation Programme, which aims to reduce innovation gaps across Europe and support sustainable economic growth in regions with high potential.
Thanks to the new Hub, more intensive collaboration between the EIT and Slovak partners is expected, along with access to a wider range of European opportunities and stronger engagement in local innovation policy.
A Significant Step for the Slovak Ecosystem
The Kick-off Event in Košice clearly demonstrated that Slovakia has the ambition and ability to become an active player on the European innovation map. Connecting local talent with the European EIT network is an important step in strengthening competitiveness and developing innovations that extend far beyond the region.
EDIH Cassovium is committed to being an active co-creator of the regional innovation map – therefore, it takes part in events that promote collaboration, networking, and knowledge exchange.
