Publikované:August 29, 2025

On 27–28 August 2025, the delegation of EDIH Cassovium took part in a working visit to the partner EDIH FAIR in Helsinki. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen cooperation, exchange experiences, and discuss opportunities for joint activities in the field of artificial intelligence and supercomputing technologies.

Programme of the Visit

As part of the two-day programme, our representatives had the opportunity to visit:

  • CSC – IT Center for Science, a key player in building the Finnish and European ecosystem of quantum computing capacity,
  • LUMI supercomputer, one of the fastest and most eco-friendly supercomputers in the world,
  • LUMI AI Factory, which integrates world-class computing capacity, data, and expertise in artificial intelligence,
  • Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences, where discussions focused on EDIH services, the development of Ulysseus innovation hubs, and opportunities for collaboration in AI.

Significance of the Visit

The meeting with partners from EDIH FAIR was focused mainly on:

  • exchanging experiences in providing AI services for businesses,
  • presenting Finnish models of the AI Factory and their integration with the LUMI supercomputer,
  • discussing opportunities for Slovak and Finnish experts to engage in joint projects and initiatives.

For the Chairman of the Board,
Juraj Girman, the visit to Finland brought not only inspiration but also very practical insights. According to him, the discussions at the Finnish AI Region (EDIH FAIR) focused on strengthening EDIH Cassovium through a pragmatic approach and a strong emphasis on supporting small and medium-sized enterprises. He was particularly impressed by the presentation of researcher Umair Ali Khan, who introduced concrete models of cooperation with SMEs – targeted, effective, and easily transferable into practice. As he emphasized, Finland demonstrates that the combination of top-class infrastructure, academia, and business with a clear vision creates real value not only at the national level but also for Europe as a whole. Slovakia now has the opportunity to do the same.
