The launch project of the European Digital Innovation Hub EDIH CASSOVIUM has officially been running since November last year, but full funding was only secured in July. By signing a contract with the Ministry of Investments, Regional Development, and Informatization of the Slovak Republic, the consortium led by our university obtained the necessary resources to fully initiate the operation of the hub.
In the previous period, we successfully prepared a portfolio of services that EDIH CASSOVIUM will offer to small and medium-sized enterprises and public sector organizations to support their digital transformation. We are proud that out of a total of 160 services, the Technical University has contributed as many as 129. The majority of these services are focused on testing digital technologies, digitalization and automation, and on education and building the necessary skills. Additional service areas offered by our EDIH CASSOVIUM include project support in acquiring new funding resources and connecting SMEs with domestic and international partners.
In addition to service design, most project activities thus far have been dedicated to designing internal processes and structures and preparing marketing and dissemination activities. EDIH CASSOVIUM maintains active social media channels and a website, and in recent months, the hub has been presented at several professional events focused on digitalization.
EDIH CASSOVIUM (EDCASS) is part of the European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH) network. To achieve higher and sustainable competitiveness within the European Union (EU), the European Commission supports the creation of a European network of around 200 hubs covering all EU regions. In Slovakia, five hubs were selected, composed of consortia of renowned institutions with high expertise in various fields. The EDIH CASSOVIUM consortium consists of the Technical University of Košice (coordinator), Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, and the Košice IT Valley cluster. The project is coordinated within TUKE by UVP TECHNICOM and involves all faculties.
EDIH CASSOVIUM will guide companies and public sector organizations through their digital transformation process, aiming to enhance their competitiveness and efficiency through innovative use of digital technologies. It will help clients access funding for their digital innovations, create a supportive incubation environment to accelerate high-tech startups, and foster the development of a digital innovation ecosystem in the region by involving local, regional, national, and European stakeholders in digital transformation.
The EDIH CASSOVIUM project is supported by the Digital Europe Programme and the Slovak Recovery and Resilience Plan.
