On Wednesday, October 18, 2023, the premises of UVP TECHNICOM became a venue for a meeting and exchange of ideas between the academic community and the world of diplomacy. We had the exceptional opportunity to welcome a group of economic diplomats from more than 70 countries at the Technical University of Košice. The visit was organized by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic.
The distinguished guests were welcomed at the university by doc. Miroslav Michalko, Director of the University Science Park TECHNICOM, who invited Prof. Jozef Živčák, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, to address the visitors. The Dean warmly greeted the attendees and introduced not only his own faculty but the entire portfolio of faculties at TUKE.
As part of the presentations, the university’s activities in supporting innovation, technology transfer, and cooperation with industrial practice were introduced, including the important EDIH Cassovium project. The Executive Director of Košice IT Valley highlighted key milestones and activities from the 16 years of the association’s operation, which has significantly contributed to enhancing the region’s attractiveness in the field of IT technologies.
The program concluded with presentations by two successful startup teams—Nordics.io and PULSAWORK—who are now expanding their operations beyond Slovakia. On the way to the Prototype and Innovation Centre of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at TUKE, the delegation had the opportunity to see the hydrogen car MH2 and the first hydrogen bus, showcasing the latest technological innovations of TUKE researchers in action.
